Tirta Empul Temple
Tirta Empul Temple or well known as holy spring temple located in Manukaya village, Tampaksiring Sub district , Gianyar Regency.
Tirta Empul is a temple with a water source in the middle. Entering the inner courtyard, you will arrive at the ‘Jaba Tengah’ area which is the main area of the temple.
The holy spring here bubbled into the large pond inside the temple and spouted through 30 streams of water into two sacred purification ponds.
Local Balinese and Hindu worshipers stand in a long line in a pond waiting to bow their heads under a torrent of water in a purification ritual known as ‘melukat’. However, to take part in The Melukat Ceremony, must follow the rules set by the temple. These include the use of kamen or sarong cloth.
